The Backup Ribbon Project is a project to distribute ribbons advertising one's commitment to the Backup Project principles; that is, commitment to actively intervene in harassment at geek events.

The project distributes badge ribbons of the kind that are often stuck to Science Fiction convention badges to advertise affiliation with various causes and communities.

The ribbons read "Back up!" in white on a purple ribbon (see a picture).

History[]

The Backup Ribbon Project was proposed in the Backup Project Livejournal community by user thatwordgrrl in May 2010. thatwordgrrl originally wound the project up in April 2012 but revived it in July in response to the René and Readercon incident.
