Broad Universe is an international non-profit organization with the mission to promote, encourage, honor and celebrate women writers and editors in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other speculative genres.
Originating from a panel discussion at WisCon in 2000, it has grown into a large, volunteer-run organization which attends various conventions and conferences to promote members' works and participate in dealer's tables. The organization also created Rapid Fire Reading, which features group readings of samples from members' works at conventions. Samples of these readings are included on the organization's story sample podcast, The Broad Pod, and a benefit of membership is access to the group readings at the conventions.
