A more subtle form of transphobia that makes the assertion that being cisgender is the default and being transgender is abnormal or unnatural.

Forms of cissexism include:

  • assuming someone's gender based on their genitilia
  • assuming there are only two genders or that gender is binary
  • imposing a gender apon a child (for example asking "is it a boy or a girl?")
  • assuming all pregnant people are women
  • the phrase "women's reproductive rights" and saying men should not have a say when it comes to abortion (thereby excluding trans men who are capable of being pregnant)
