Noted transgender women's rights activist and senior Twitter engineer Dana McCallum (legally: Dana Contreras) was arrested and, on January 29th, 2014, charged with 5 felonies including rape and domestic violence.

McCallum is free on $350,000 bail and there is a restraining order against her, keeping her away from her victim.

Defense lawyer's propagation of rape culture

McCallum's lawyer John Runfola told the San Francisco Examiner that McCallum's victim is a money-grubbing liar and that McCallum is innocent.

Geek feminist community response

The Geek Feminism blog posted "On rape allegations and trans-misogyny" in support of the victim.

Model View Culture, for which McCallum had previously written articles, removed her articles (cached link), but have not made a statement on the matter.
