Racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia often go hand-in-hand with each other in some geek cultures.
Some although not all issues for geek women are similar to those experienced by geeks of color, and women geeks of color will experience both. Issues which may be in some ways similar include:
- Numerical minority issues
- Equal but different
- Cultural appropriation
- "Dog Whistle" language

- The possibly apocryphal story of a team that made racist jokes in the customer service chat when they felt they were alone, only to discover that their helper bot repeated them when customers came in.
