Biologist and science writer Dr. Danielle N. Lee responded to being called a "whore" after politely declining to write for free. The Scientific American blog network removed her blog post about it without consulting her, with the excuse that it "verged into the personal."

Physicist and blogger Sean Carroll explains (http://twitchy.com/2013/10/12/scientists-standwithdnlee-biologist-called-urban-whore-for-declining-to-blog-for-free/) …just recently an editor named “Ofek” at Biology-Online.org asked DNLee to provide some free content for him. She responded with:

Here’s what happens less often: the person asking for free content, rather than moving on, responds by saying:
